George Nolfi (The Adjustment Bureau) has signed on to direct XOXO, Lionsgate's social networking cyber thriller.

We first reported on the project back in October, when the studio acquired the spec screenplay from Mark Heyman (Black Swan). The story centers on a man engaged to be married, who also enjoys a little online flirting on the side. He strikes up a virtual romance with a woman he meets on Facebook, although he begins to realize that this cyber romance is affecting his real life, in dangerous ways. The project is being described as "Fatal Attraction for the digital age."

Darren Aronofsky is producing for Protozoa Pictures, alongside Groundswell Productions' Michael London. It isn't known when production will begin.

George Nolfi made his directorial debut with The Adjustment Bureau last year, after writing movies such as Ocean's Twelve, The Sentinel, and The Bourne Ultimatum.
