Over the past five months, Vin Diesel has shared numerous photos from the set of his long-awaited sequel XXX: The Return of Xander Cage, as production took place, under the direction of D.J. Caruso (Eagle Eye). The actor has always given his fans special sneak peeks from whatever project he's working on at the time, and XXX 3 was certainly no different. But that has now come to an end. Earlier today, the actor shared one final photo from the set, revealing that production has wrapped. Clearly, he saved the best, and craziest, photo for last.

The set photo was posted to the actor's Instagram page, which will likely have fans scratching their heads for quite some time. The photo features Vin Diesel riding a dirtbike...Underwater! How did Xander Cage plunge into the water with his dirtbike? That's a question for another day. Hopefully we'll get a glimpse at this unusual scene when the first trailer arrives. Here's what the actor had to say, confirming that principal photography has wrapped on XXX: The Return of Xander Cage.

"That's a wrap for XxX... Proud of the cast and crew for making magic. Xander."

XXX: The Return of Xander Cage is the third explosive chapter of the blockbuster franchise that redefined the spy thriller. The long-awaited sequel finds extreme athlete-turned-government operative Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) coming out of self-imposed exile. He is soon on a collision course with deadly alpha warrior Xiang and his team in a race to recover a sinister and seemingly unstoppable weapon known as Pandora's Box. Recruiting an all-new group of thrill-seeking cohorts, Xander finds himself enmeshed in a deadly conspiracy that points to collusion at the highest levels of world governments. Packed with the series' signature deadpan wit and bad-ass attitude, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage will raise the bar on extreme action with some of the most mind-blowing stunts to ever be caught on film.

Vin Diesel will be joined by his original xXx co-star Samuel L. Jackson, who returns as Augustus Gibbons. They will be joined by a supporting cast that includes Deepika Padukone, Nina Dobrev, Ruby Rose, Donnie Yen and Conor McGregor. D.J. Caruso (I Am Number Four) is directing xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, from a script by Chad St. John (London Has Fallen) with current revisions by F. Scott Frazier (Collide).

Paramount Pictures has set a January 20, 2017 release date for XXX: The Return of Xander Cage, which is shaping up to be quite the competitive weekend early next year. The action sequel will be facing EuropaCorp's action-thriller The Lake, starring Sullivan Stapleton, and Universal's horror-thriller Split, starring James McAvoy. There are also four high-profile movies opening one week prior on January 13. Sony will debut the long-awaited adaptation The Dark Tower, with Paramount's Friday the 13th, Warner Bros.' Geostorm and Paramount's Monster Trucks also opening on that date. Check out the final XXX: The Return of Xander Cage set photo below, and be sure to stay tuned for the first trailer.
