One franchise simply isn't enough for Vin Diesel these days. Not only is Fast 8 coming out next year, but he is also making his return to one of the franchises that helped make him famous; xXx. Now, Paramount has unveiled a brand new, full-length trailer for xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, giving us our best look yet at the revival of the action movie franchise.

Yesterday, the official xXxTwitter account announced that the trailer would be dropping today and they delivered on that promise. They also released a ton of new character posters for xXx: The Return of Xander Cage. Surprisingly, there were a dozen new character posters, featuring Vin Diesel's Xander Cage, Donnie Yen's Xiang, Rory McCann's Torch, Tony Jaa's Talon, Deepika Padukone's Serena, Kris Wu's Nicks, soccer star Neymar Jr., Nicky Jam as Lazarus, Toni Collette as Jane Marke, UFC star }Michael Bisping} as Hawk, Nina Dobrev as Becky and Ruby Rose as Adele. Excessive? Maybe, but this movie series has never been what one would call subtle. Here is the official synopsis for xXx: The Return of Xander Cage.

"The third explosive chapter of the blockbuster franchise that redefined the spy thriller finds extreme athlete turned government operative Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) coming out of self-imposed exile and on a collision course with deadly alpha warrior Xiang and his team in a race to recover a sinister and seemingly unstoppable weapon known as Pandora's Box. Recruiting an all-new group of thrill-seeking cohorts, Xander finds himself enmeshed in a deadly conspiracy that points to collusion at the highest levels of world governments. Packed with the series' signature deadpan wit and bad-ass attitude, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage will raise the bar on extreme action with some of the most mind-blowing stunts to ever be caught on film."

Vin Diesel's first xXx did quite well at the box office, bringing in a total of $277.4 million worldwide from a $70 million budget. Despite the success of the first entry, Vin Diesel did not return for the sequel XXX: State of the Union. Instead, that movie starred Ice Cube as a new recruit, Darius Stone. That sequel didn't fare quite as well at the box office, to say the least, taking in just $26.8 million domestically and $71 million worldwide. Now more than a decade later, Vin Diesel and Samuel L. Jackson are both coming back.

January has historically been known as something of a dumping ground for studios to try and make a little bit of money with a bad movie, or for Oscar movies to get a wide release. But with so many big movies coming out every year, studios have had to try and get creative and find new times of the year to release movies to avoid overcrowding the summer months. So, Paramount Pictures is hoping that xXx: The Return of Xander Cage can capitalize early next year. The studio is in desperate need of a hit as well, after a string of bombs like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows and the Ben-Hur remake.

XXX: The Return of Xander Cage is being directed by D.J. Caruso, who previously directed action thrillers like I Am Number Four and Eagle Eye. xXx: The Return of Xander Cage is set to hit theaters on January 17, 2017. Be sure to check out the new xXx3 trailer for yourself below.
