According to The Hollywood Reporter, Haste doesn't always make waste. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment slammed the theatrically underperforming sequel XXX: State of the Union into video stores a mere 88 days after its boxoffice debut and was able to ride the theatrical wave to the bank.

The actioner was the top seller and the top renter its first week in stores, booting Warner Home Video's Constantine from the No. 1 slot on VideoScan's First Alert and Home Media Retailing's top rentals charts for the week ending July 31. On the sales side, XXX sold nearly twice as many copies as Constantine did in its sophomore week, while on the rental end, the sequel generated a respectable $12.2 million, or nearly half its total theatrical gross of $26.1 million.
