They brought the darkness back with them in the new trailer for Yellowjackets Season 2. An incident that unfortunately descended into a “Lord of the Flies” type situation. You can check out the new trailer for Yellowjackets Season 2 below.

Debuting on Showtime in 2021, Yellowjackets tells the story of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who survive a plane crash deep in the Ontario wilderness. The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to warring, cannibalistic clans while tracking the lives they have attempted to piece back together. As well as slowly unveiling the violence and chaos of their survival, Yellowjackets also picks up with the characters 25 years later, as they discover that what began in the wild is far from over.

The series stars Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, and Sammi Hanratty as teenagers. At the same time, Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Christina Ricci, and Juliette Lewis portray their adult counterparts as they reveal the truth about their survival 25 years later.

Yellowjackets Season 2 will add several names to its already stacked cast, including The Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood as Walter, a Citizen Detective not represented by a younger self on the show. Six Feet Under star Lauren Ambrose will also join the fray as the adult version of Vanessa "Van" Palmer, with Liv Hewson playing the teenage version.

"No, [I] didn't know that. But I definitely had the experience of watching the show and being like, 'Well, gee, can I be on this show or what? And then they asked me to do [it]," Ambrose said of joining the series. "So, that was a different experience for me. I've never watched something and loved it and then [went] on it. So… that has been cool. I am very excited about it."

Yellowjackets has been met with critical acclaim thanks to the ensemble cast's powerful performances and its gripping tale of survival both in the wilderness and back in civilization. The series was recently nominated for several awards at the Primetime Emmy Awards and has already been renewed for a third season.

“With Yellowjackets‘ runaway success in season one and the pent-up anticipation for season two, we wanted to maximize the momentum by fast tracking season three now,” Chris McCarthy, president, and CEO of Showtime and Paramount Media Networks, said in a statement. “The show’s ambition is only exceeded by its execution, and I thank the incredible creative team behind it, including Ashley, Bart, Jonathan [Lisco], eOne and the Showtime team, for turning this into such a success.”

Yellowjackets Season 2 will be available to stream starting March 24 on SHOWTIME.
