Hitting the Streets on DVD and VHS May 18
Culver City, CA (March 8, 2004) - In the tradition of 8 Mile, Drumline and Bring It On comes YOU GOT SERVED, an inside look at the battle to be the best in the fast-paced and take-no-prisoners world of hip hop street dancing. Written and directed by Christopher B. Stokes (House Party 4), the cast includes Marques Houston (member of musical group IMX), Omari Grandberry (member of musical group B2K), Jarrell Houston (B2K), J Boog (B2K), platinum-selling recording star Lil’ Kim, Steve Harvey (TV’s “The Steve Harvey Show”), Meagan Good (Hustle and Heat, the upcoming D.E.B.S.) and the beautiful Jennifer Freeman (TV’s “My Wife and Kids”), but the real stars are what the New York Times raved about: the “cutting, slashing, robotic moves that evoke both Chinese martial arts films and Michael Jackson's undying moonwalk.” The film makes its DVD and VHS (rental) premiere on May 18 from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment.
The DVD is fully-loaded with special features, including audio commentary from writer/director Christopher B. Stokes and cast members Marques Houston and Omari Grandberry, a cutting-edge multi-angle dance breakdown to analyze all the moves, a making-of documentary, and the music video “Badaboom” by B2K featuring Fabolous.
You find street dancers all across the country - on street corners, in alleyways, on playgrounds or in dark, sweaty warehouses. Crowds gather to cheer and scream for their favorite crew locked into battle with other formidable crews. With unbelievable raw talent, they demonstrate explosive moves that defy gravity and spin like tops to the rhythmic sounds of urban music. YOU GOT SERVED delves into that competitive, underground world. Elgin (Houston) and David (Omarion) are best friends and leaders of the best dance crew in the area. When another town's top group challenges them to a battle, David and Elgin, along with their buddies (Raz B, J Boog and Lil' Fizz of B2K) must create and perfect the most cutting edge moves in order to remain on top. The stakes are raised as friends double-cross each other and true motives are revealed. When the biggest battle comes to town, David and Elgin must work past their differences to prove that they are still the best crew on the streets.
