While their big kissing scene at the end may have been the most pivotal moment in the Netflix romantic comedy You People, lead stars Jonah Hill and Lauren London had apparently faked it with special effects. In the movie, described as a "modern love story" by Netflix, Hill plays a white man who starts dating a Black woman as their relationship gets tested by their respective families. Despite these challenges, the two lovebirds come together, locking lips passionately as their families celebrate.

Looking a bit more closely at the kiss, however, suggests that something is off. This is explained by actor and comedian Andrew Schulz, who has a role in the film alongside Hill and London. Per People, Schulz spoke about his experience working on You People on his podcast The Brilliant Idiots, and one particularly interesting revelation he shared is that his co-stars hadn't actually kissed. He jokes that they don't appear to make a great couple as he reveals that their onscreen kiss had been faked wigh CGI.

"There's a hilarious thing— I don't even know if I should share this s---, but the final scene, they don't even kiss," Schulz says. "It's CGI. Swear to God."

For some context, Schulz explains how he was present for that scene, and he observed on the set that the two actors didn't kiss. He presumed that the film would cut away from that in the final cut and was surprised to see that this wasn't the case when the movie came out.

"I'm there and I'm watching the wedding and I see them go in for the kiss and their faces stop like this far, and i'm like, 'I wonder how they're going to play that in the movie, they'll probably just cut right there,'" the actor notes. "But [in] the movie you could see their faces come close and then you can see their faces morph a little bit into a fake kiss."

While Schulz jokes that the pair didn't seem to make a great couple, given how they didn't actually kiss for the movie, there doesn't seem to be any indication that Hill and London didn't get along. Perhaps one of the two felt uncomfortable about making contact with the kiss for any number of reasons, and not because of anything personal. It's unusual for kissing scenes to be faked with CGI but it's something that could become increasingly common, given the efforts that are getting put into movies and TV show productions to ensure no talent is pressured to do something they're not comfortable with.
