You co-creator and showrunner, Sera Gamble, has taken a moment to hype up the release of the show's third season, describing it as "bonkers". After the second season, it's hard to imagine just how much more delightfully bonkers things could get, but it seems that Gamble and the rest of the You cast and crew have found a way.

"I feel privileged to have gotten to witness everyone's creativity, resilience and kindness. I mean, I knew our team was tough and good at their jobs, but holy sh*t did everyone show up for each other. All the way up the Warner's/Netflix ladder and in every production department. (Also, the episodes are f**king bonkers and the performances are insanely good. That's all I'll say about that till we are ready to talk about the new season.)"

Sera started the hype train by saying, "Today is our last day of shooting season 3 of #YouNetflix. Can I brag to you for a hot second?" Before revealing that the production had "zero on-set positive COVID tests through a significant and scary surge here in LA. And haven't had one since." While she admits that there is "an element of sheer good luck in this statistic," she also commends the "very hard" work of the cast and crew and how they have taken care of each other "during a time that's stressful, in a situation that's tough to control."

Produced by Warner Horizon Television, in association with Alloy Entertainment and A&E Studios, the first season of You is based on the 2014 novel by Caroline Kepnes and introduces audiences to Penn Badgley as Joe Goldberg, a brilliant male bookstore manager who crosses paths with an aspiring female writer. What begins as a charming, yet awkward crush grows into something much more sinister when the writer becomes the object of Joe's obsession.

Using social media and the internet to become close to her, Joe begins to remove any obstacle, including people, that stand in his way of getting to her. You'ssecond season saw a change of scenery in both the show and its availability, moving from Lifetime to Netflix as a Netflix Original series. The follow-up finds Joe moving from New York to Los Angeles to escape his past, where he meets avid chef Love Quinn and begins falling into his old patterns of obsession and violence.

While many details regarding the Netflix serie's upcoming third season remain as mysterious as You's main character, we do know that the series will pick up where season 2 left off, and find Joe struggling to navigate through his new suburban nightmare. With a baby on the way, can Joe refrain from falling into old habits? Probably not, as Michaela McManus (The Vampire Diaries, The Village) is on board to star as the neighbour who was introduced in the final moments of season 2 and is likely set to be the face of Joe's merciless desire.

Though You season 3 does not yet have a specific release date, it was recently revealed that the show will return to Netflix in the back half of this year. This comes to us courtesy of Sera Gamble's Twitter.
