In a story from Variety, screenwriter Zoe Green will be writing The Diamond Age for the Sci Fi channel as well as producer George Clooney.

The show will be based on Neal Stephenson's novel "The Diamond Age: Or a Young Lady's Illustrated Primer."

Clooney and Grant Heslov will be produce via their Smokehouse Pictures production company.

Diamond Age looks at a futuristic society where one man feels there is no more creativity. He then creates an interactive book that his daughter can use. She takes the book and unlocks a parallel world.

Stephenson's novel was originally published in 1995 and it went on to win the Hugo Award for novel in 1996.
