We are still a long way from seeing James Gunn’s third and supposedly final Guardians of The Galaxy movie roll out into cinemas, but that doesn’t mean it is too early for some behind the scenes images of the cast getting into character once again. This time around, it is Zoe Saldana who has been sharing a new look at the character of Gamora, who will clearly be back for Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3 despite the character previously being sacrificed by Thanos during Avengers: Infinity War.

Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3 will see the return of virtually all of the stars from the previous movies in the series, including Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel and even Sylvester Stallone as Stakar Ogord. While the full plot of the movie is being kept secret, we do know that the film will see the introduction of Adam Warlock, who was teased at the end of the last Guardians of the Galaxy movie and is portrayed by Marvel newcomer Will Poulter in the latest installment.

When it comes to Zoe Saldana, her Marvel journey has been quite a rollercoaster that has seen her character killed off during Avengers: Infinity War, only to return as a time-variant in Avengers: Endgame. Following the climactic battle of Endgame, Saldana’s Gamora remained in the current Marvel timeline and was last seen quietly slinking away while Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill, Thor and other members of the Guardians headed off in an attempt to find her. We already know that some members of the Guardians team will feature in Thor: Love and Thunder in 2022, but Saldana wasn’t one of the names listed, however, that doesn’t mean that she won’t feature in at least a post credit scene to set up events of the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. You can see her “Many faces of 2021” photo collection on her Instagram post below.

Shortly after filming began, Chris Pratt shared a cast photo and promised fans that the wait for the newest adventure of Star-Lord and his ragtag gang of heroes. Pratt wrote:

“Day 1 in the can. Honestly could not have started off better. Hit the ground running with a delicate, emotional, funny, wild, complicated scene and everyone absolutely killed. So grateful to be puppeteered by my friend and brother the mad genius James Gunn. Oh My God I promise you... this movie will be worth the wait.”

It has been well reported that not only is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 going to be the final movie of James Gunn’s Marvel run, but also the end of the road for a number of members of the Guardians teams, with Dave Bautista having been quite vocal that this is likely his last time playing Drax the Destroyer. While this could pave the way for some new additions to the team if we do get another Guardians movie further down the line, the current gang may not be about to just fade away with I Am Groot heading to Disney+ next year and a rumored Rocket series also being considered.
